Data Protection Information

In the following, we would like to inform you how your personal data is processed when you use our websites.        


The responsibility for these websites lies with TRIXIE Heimtierbedarf GmbH & Co. KG (Industriestr. 32, 24963 Tarp, Germany). Please see our legal notice for more information about our company and its authorised representatives.

Which data is processed?   

Legal Bases for Data Processing     
In order to be able to make our website and the services connected with it available to you, we process personal data based on the following legal bases:  

–    Consent (Art. 6 (1)(a) DSGVO – German version of GDPR)
–    For the Fulfilment of contracts (Art. 6 (1) (b) DSGVO – German version of GDPR)
–    On the basis of a balance of interests (Art. 6 (1) (f) DSGVO)
–    In compliance with a legal obligation (Art. 6 (1) (c) DSGVO)
In connection with the data processing that takes place, we will refer to the above terms so that you can understand on which basis we process personal data.

If personal data is processed based on your consent, you are entitled to revoke your consent at any time with effect for the future.      

If we process data on the basis of a balance of interests, you as the party affected have the right to object to personal data being processed as per the provisions of Art. 21 DSGVO (German version of GDPR).     

Access Data    
When you visit our website, personal data is processed in order to enable us to display the contents of the website on your terminal.     

For the webpages to be displayed in your browser, the IP address of the terminal you use needs to be processed along with further information on the browser used on your terminal.     

We are obliged under data protection law to also ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the personal data processed with our IT systems.

For this purpose and in this interest, the following data is recorded on the basis of a balance of interests:     

–    IP-address of the calling computer (for a maximum of 30 days)         
–    Operating system of the calling computer     
–    Browser version of the calling computer     
–    Name of the file retrieved    
–    Date and time of the retrieval     
–    Amount of data transmitted     
–    Referring URL     

The IP address is deleted from all systems used for the operation of the website after 30 days at the latest. The remaining data does not longer enable us to link to your person. 

The data is also used to be able to find and rectify errors on the websites.    

Contact Form    
On our website, we offer a contact form allowing you to request information about our products and services or generally get into contact with us. The mandatory data required from you enabling us to answer your request has been marked as mandatory fields. Details in other data fields are optional.  

We need this data to be able to deal with your request, to address you correctly and answer your query. In the case of specific requests, the data is processed to fulfil or to initiate a contract. In the case of general requests, the data is processed on the basis of a balance of interests.   

Requests reaching us via our contact form on our website are processed electronically to answer your request. If this is the case, it is possible that other persons or departments or third parties might receive information about the content of the form you sent.    

The data on the form is transmitted via internet by means of encrypted connections.     

We use cookies on our websites. Cookies are small pieces of textual information that are stored on your terminal via your browser. The cookies are needed to enable certain functions on our websites.

Along with session cookies that are automatically deleted by your browser directly after the end of your visit to our websites, we also use persistent cookies that are not automatically deleted after the end of your visit to our website.

Google Maps is used in the interest of an appealing presentation of our online offers and easy location of the places we indicate on the website. This constitutes a legitimate interest as per Article 6 (1) f) DSGVO (German GDPR). When using forms, we use the reCAPTCHA service of Google Ireland Limited to protect against attempts at fraud and abuse. The use of this service is in the interest of data security when submitting forms, as a distinction is made between input by natural persons and misuse by machine or automated processing. Nevertheless, we ask for your consent to use this service at the beginning of your visit to our website.

TLS Encoding of E-Mails
Emails are encoded with the help of the service for transmission provided by Office 365 by Microsoft Corporation. We use this service on the basis of a balance of interests as we want to protect the email exchanges with our customers from unauthorized third parties. 

Data processing is controlled by Microsoft data centres, which may also be located outside the EU. The appropriate level of data protection is guaranteed by the use of the so-called EU standard contractual clauses.  

Information on Data Processing in connection with Facebook and Instagram    
We use our Facebook fan page and our Instagram account to provide information about us and our products. And, of course, to get into contact with Facebook and Instagram users and communicate with them.

Technically, Facebook does the data processing. In so far, we refer to Facebook’s data protection page Facebook privacy notice.

According to ECJ case law, in certain circumstances there can be a joint responsibility for Facebook and for us for parts of the Facebook fan page. This processing is then carried out on the basis of an agreement on joint processing that can be found here.

Purposes of the Processing Personal Data    

We process the data named above for the operation of our website and for fulfilling contractual obligations towards our customers as well as for maintaining our legitimate interests.     

In the case of requests from you outside of an active customer relationship, we process the data for purposes of sales and promotion. You can object to our use of personal data for promotional purposes at any time.      

Optional Data    

In so far as you give us optional data, e.g. in forms, and this data is not necessary to fulfil our contractual obligations, we process this data assuming that processing and using this data is in your interest. 

Receivers / Passing on Data    

Data that you provide us with is never passed on to third parties. In particular, your data is not passed on to third parties for their promotional purposes.   

If necessary, we appoint service providers for operating our website or for other products or services we provide. In this case, it can happen that a service provider gains access to personal data. We take great care in choosing our service providers – in particular concerning data protection and data security – and take all necessary measures relating to data protection law for legitimate data processing.

Your Rights as an Affected Party    

You have the right to obtain information about the personal data concerning you. You can contact us for this at any time.    

In case of a request for information that does not come in a written form, we ask you to understand that we might need proof of identity to confirm that you are the person you claim to be.

Furthermore, you have the right to correct your data, have them deleted or their processing restricted within your legal rights.     

Finally, you have the right of objection against the processing of your data within the scope of the legal regulations. The same applies to the right to data portability.    

Deletion of Data

As a rule, we delete personal data as soon as there is no need for further retention. However, it can be necessary to keep data to be able to fulfil contractual services, to be able to check warranty claims or if applicable guarantee claims and to grant or refute these. In the case of legal retention obligations, the data can only be deleted after this retention obligation period has expired.      

The Right to Complain to a Supervisory Authority    

You have the right to complain to a supervisory authority for data protection about the processing of your personal data by us.
